That is the tag line of babEblessings, my September feature sponsor, and what an awesome reminder! I'm so happy to introduce you to Jac today. I had the chance to video chat with her this month and we ended up chatting for almost two hours! I am blessed to call her a new friend and I just love this mama. *smile*
In her own words ...
I’ve been blogging for years, but in the last 2 years the focus has changed. I started blogging about being pregnant and then bedrest, and we graduated from bedrest to the Neonatal ICU and finally home. In the last few months we’ve shifted from a usual baby blog to blogging more about the journey God’s taking me on as a mom. During the last few months God’s been doing a lot in my heart, and from the amazing things he’s been teaching me and showing me, babEblessings Design came to be. I started designing mini prints that can be written all over with the words God gives us while staying home and being able to create during naps.
What is the meaning behind your blog name?
When Brian and I started to think about adding to our family, I wanted something creative to call our baby. And since our last name starts with an E, it made perfect sense to replace the y with an E. So naming the blog babE made sense, too. We truly believe that every child is a blessing, so babEblessings came to be.
What is your absolute favorite part about blogging?
The best part of blogging for me is building a community. I have friends all over Canada and the US because of blogging. I have a group of girls who I know will be praying when we need it, and that I can pray for, too. I love the community that we have built. Knowing that a prayer request will come up on Twitter and there will be girls from across the world praying all at the same time. I also love having a creative outlet that can help bless others.
What is your favorite post you've written and why?
If We Do Not Lose Heart is the one post that has made me rethink my purpose and attitude in life and in my actions. Coming to the realization that just because I do something doesn't mean that I'm doing it according to God's purpose. I have to adjust my attitude sometimes. This post took me a few days to put together and a lot of tears shed as God showed me some of the things I needed to change and all the love he has for me.
What are some of your big life goals and dreams?
I want to live a life that honors God and my husband and family.
A dream that I have is that in 10 or 15 years Brian and I will be sitting on the dock at Ernst Island with our children enjoy God's beautiful creation. And having my mom and dad come up to visit us. That my dad has a new set of lungs and is healthy. And I pray that my children have a great relationship with God.
My goal in life is to raise my children to be respectful compassionate productive members of society that answer to a higher call. I want them to be a light for God in whatever avenue they choose in life.
What is the biggest challenge you've faced since becoming a mom?
Controlling my reactions is the biggest challenge I have had since becoming a mom. Although I know in my head that an action that Grayson has done is wrong, he's still learning and I need to remind myself of that. So instead of snapping at him because he "should have known" I need to remember to use those moments for teaching. Obviously when he's going to the hot stove, I'm not using a calm teaching voice, but after I've saved him from danger I try and show Grayson why it isn't safe for him.
I also have to watch not to laugh at him when he's doing something in appropriate. The faces he has during dinner sometimes is so hilarious, but when he's grinning up a storm after just throwing his spaghetti on the floor, well laughing is so not appropriate. I just have to remind myself that we are shaping his reactions to us and what he feels is appropriate by our reactions.
What is the biggest blessing you've experience since becoming a mom?
Every day I get to see how amazing God is through Grayson's eyes. The awe he has for the chipmunk on the back deck, and the surprise he has on his face when a frog near the pond hops towards him. And the way he giggles when the wind picks up leaves on the trail during a walk. Experiencing that wonders of God's creation through Gray's eyes is such a blessing to me, and has created in me a more thankful heart for the little things.
What is your perfect autumn outfit?
I LOVE the sweater! and the cowl is just the most amazing thing. And honestly I love the dark burgundy red with the brown! And I would love the Gucci bag, but I think it's a bit out of my budget - even if I saved up for a year (and a half) And now I'm heading to Old Navy to get some skinny maternity jeans, and look around the mall for some awesome riding boots!
Jac will be back in October with a guest post! Click over and leave her some love!
Happy Friday, friends!
