tutorial: how to link your Google Analytics account.

This post was originally posted as part of the Tutes on Tuesday series over at Royal Daughter Designs. Amanda was kind enough to let me guest post for her but in case you didn't see it there, I thought I'd post it here, too.

How to Link Your Google Analytics Account

First, you need a Google Analytics account and let me tell you that yes, you do need one! This awesome tool will help you track all kinds of fabulous stats like pageviews, visits, unique visits, keyword searches, referrals, popular links within your blog, and more. Click here and then click on that orange button to create your account!

You'll need a Google email address to sign in and once you're in, you'll have to answer a few simple questions. After you create your account, you will be given a weird looking but unique-to-your-URL code that starts with two letters and then a series of numbers. For the sake of security, I'm not going to share mine so I've made a fake one for you.

(note: my blog name used to be Mama Marchand's Musings AND I also use this to track my Etsy stats!)

Highlight that weird looking code and paste it OR do it the old-fashioned way and write it down on a piece of paper. *wink* Now, hop over to Blogger and go to your Settings tab. Then, follow my instructions below.

Once you're in your Settings, click on Other. Then copy your Google Analytics code into the Analytics Web Property ID box all the way at the bottom and click Save Settings. You're done! Keep in mind that it will take 24 hours once you install the tracking code for data to appear!

Let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

Will you be doing a post about how to interrupt some of the data from Google Analytics? ;) Sometimes I am bit overwhelmed by all the stats & am not 100% sure what they all mean. I would appreciate it! Thank you!

I've had an analytics account for a long time, but never had it set up correctly so this helped me get the job done. Thanks! I also would love a post about what the stats mean. :) Thanks for the tutorial!

Um I signed up for this like 2 years ago but didn't understand how to add it to my blog. Thanks for making it so easy. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting to old to learn new things....tell me I'm not too old!!! Lol
