This is not what we look like today. We look the exact opposite of this picture, actually. My independent, spunky, strong-willed two and a half year old mini-me and I have been at odds all day today, it seems.
It started at 8:00 am with her first time out because the whining started the minute she stepped out of bed. Her second time out came around 10:00 am when she threw my glasses across the room while I was trying to record a vlog to share with you today about everything that's happening in our little family. I just needed three minutes to do it. Just three minutes.
She asked for toast and then didn't want it. She asked for milk and then wanted water. She refused to sit in her car seat after we went to the park and had a meltdown in the parking lot. She's into nap-fighting lately, even though she desperately needs them still. Clearly.
Did I mention I ran out of contacts and allergy medicine so I'm blind, itchy, and sneezy today? Yeah. Oh and Starbucks got my free drink wrong earlier. Do you know how awful that is and how desperately I need that delicious cup of coffee? *sigh*
Praise Jesus for a supportive hubs who is not only going grocery shopping for me after work today but is having a daddy daughter date with N later so I can work on jewelry for my shop's grand reopening on Monday (psst ... sign up for the newsletter here).
I really do love being a stay at home mama. Please don't misunderstand. Just keepin' it real with you, friends.
Today is just not one of those sunshine and sparkles kind of days.
You know?

Those kind of a days are a weekly happening around here and they're no fun. Especially when your coffee is all screwed up! Not cool, Starbucks. (Ps. They screwed up my free drink earlier this week and I wanted to cry!)
Anyway, yes, staying at home is TOTALLY awesome, but that certainly doesn't mean it's always easy. Thinking of you, mama friend! Hope things get a little easier for you today!
I wish I could say that once you have one of those days, you can cross it off your list and it NEVER happens again. Wouldn't that be SO nice? :)
I can totally sympathize with you (as can any other mother out there). Hugs going out to you and prayers being sent that the rest of your day starts looking up (and that your next cup of coffee is over the moon amazing). :)
right there with ya, tricia. wilder has been pulling out all kinds of naughty moves. they have me exhausted.
tomorrow is a new day, thank the Lord!
Days like that just down right suck. I'm sorry today is one of those days & I hope tomorrow is much better!
Hope that your day got better! We have a 14 month old over here that does not think he needs a nap either. Funny thing is that he will nap for daddy, but not me. Good thing that daddy is the one who is home with him.
I'm sorry!!!!! Life is like that - I'm so glad you're authentic on your blog. Thank you.
(P.S. I would totally come give you a hug, hang out with N. and get you some starbucks if I could. Doesn't that sound nice?)
Those days suck! :( Hopefully tomorrow will rock!
Oh mama I'm sorry! It's great to blog about these days though, because while we don't feel like we will ever get out of this phase- someday it will be something fun to look back on! Love you and miss talking to you! xo
i have those kinds of days more often than i would like to admit.
YES. All that. I hate to tell you, she may drop the nap. My boy did, but! But! There's good news with that. The day is longer but he sleeps much better at night now. So, I just switched all my creative efforts to the end of the day.
Those days have been more frequent around these parts and I just can't help but wonder what is UP with my son! Sigh. Know you aren't alone in this. At all.
And I ready blind and itchy too fast and thought it said something else...sorry. :)
So sorry you had a rough day :( But rock on for being honest, I like these blog posts so much more than "life is always sunny and rainbows!"
Extra blessings for your husband. I have three kids and those days do happen and it takes the patience of a Saint, in my opinion, to ge through them. :)
