It's finally time to reveal N's new big girl room! This has been such a labor of love - from the challenge of fitting all of her new furniture in our car at IKEA to rethinking some of my original plans for DIY projects. It has been so much fun! *smile*
All of her new furniture is from the happiest place on earth - IKEA! The dresser, bookshelves, desk & chair set, toy box, and bed were all so affordable that we were able to use the money we made from the sale of her glider, dresser, and changing table to purchase all of it. We love that place!
We used the comforter from her crib set for her big girl bed since it was never used when she was itty bitty and added an owl pillow from Target, her custom name pillow (blurred out - sorry!), and her custom granny square pillow from Buttonwood Cottage.
I found the pink blackout curtains at Wal*Mart of all places and am still working on custom tie backs for them. For now, pretty ribbon will have to do.

In an effort to minimalize, N and I went through her stuffed animals and she decided to keep just enough to fill that cute little toy box, which I might DIY someday. The rest of her toys are organized in the big pink bins in her bookshelves.
This is one of the DIY sections of her room. I had intended to do a gallery wall and that might still happen but for now, I'm loving the simplicity of this.
That long strip of fabric on the left is a handmade growth chart from my mother in law and below it is the matching clothes hamper to her comforter.

N painted that birdhouse all by herself and I mod podged the letter n with fabric and painted the sides green. I used a bigger swatch of the orange fabric for the custom bow holder background and, if you follow me on Instagram, you know that the cross stitch is the first one I've ever done and a custom design. It's safe to say that I'm now addicted to cross stitch!
I hope y'all know Andrea of Bubblewrapp'd. She is a dear friend of mine and she makes the most fabulous wooden blocks that can be customized in just about every way. We have several around our home and I've given several as gifts. If you want one just like N's, check it out here.
Do you spy Dolly? *smile* N was in need of some new art supplies so we went to Five Below and I bought a new box of crayons, a few coloring books, play-do, and that cute little green tin for $10!
This was another DIY - her art corner clothesline. N and I painted the clothes pins and I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters and heart from paint swatches. I used twine for the line and 3M hooks in case we want to move them up or down.
A little girl's room isn't complete without sparkly princess shoes, right? *wink*
She loves her new room and while she's still adjusting to naps in her big girl bed, she snoozes away at night in it. She did fall out once, on her third night, but since then, she's had no problem. We do put big pillows down on the floor beside her bed for now, just so this mama can sleep at night. *wink*
N loves having all of her clothes, shoes, books, and toys accessible to her and I think it's important for her to learn how to keep it all tidy and put away. So far, so good! Overall, the transition to her new room has been a breeze and making it into a personal and fun space, with her help, has been a blast.

It looks amazing! Great job! I love Ikea- we have the taller Expedit in Gus's room and thank goodness because those baskets hold so many cars and trucks. I'm so happy that N is getting to love her room. She'll get a good sleeping position in her bed and she'll start to feel more and more secure in it, and access to all of her stuff is great. We try to keep things low for the kids, too.
So cute! It all looks so fun too. I'm holding off as long as I can on that. So far mine hasn't tried to climb out of the crib yet *fingers crossed* and I want her to stay there as long as possible. We have a steep set of stairs so the longer I don't have to worry about that the better.
But looking at this room does make me long for the day when I can tuck her into bed and cuddle in with her over a book.
Sincerely,
Joanna
It looks fabulous! What a wonderful room to grow up in. I agree that Ikea is the happiest place on earth. I wish our closest one wasn't a 9 hour drive away.
