mamacation in the 'burgh.

{my plane, excited face, BFF driving face, tunnel, bridge, being tattooed, the ink, the tattoo, Double Wide Grill,
grilled cheese with bacon & pear, mural #1, mural #2, fishies, fountain, more fishies, BFF & O}

I flew to the 'Burgh this past weekend and visited my best friend. We were SERIOUSLY due for some much-needed mama time! She and I were roommates in college and since we graduated, lots of life stuff has gotten in the way of some quality BFF time. Little things like getting married, having babies, and jobs. *wink*

Here's a short summary of our fabulous weekend together: we shopped, we ate, we drank coffee, we got tattoos (well, I did), and we barely slept. Doesn't that sound awesome? Oh, it WAS.

Friday, I flew in around lunchtime. We spent the afternoon shopping locally and went out that night for her birthday to an old favorite. Saturday, we spent the day in the 'Burgh, livin' it up. I got my tattoo re-done, ate some delish food, shopped til' we dropped (literally), and had some quality time together (despite me feeling under the weather). I am now officially "Aunt Tricia" to my "niece" (my BFF's adorable daughter) and enjoyed some playtime with her on Sunday ... and then we shopped & ate some more before heading to the airport for my return flight.

So, about the tattoo. *smile* I got one several years ago ... one that I had been wanting for a LONG time before that. It's the word eternal in Greek on my lower back (αιώνιος). I was a chicken when I had it done the first time and just had the word outlined (which took all of ten minutes). I couldn't handle any more pain than that.

Enter ... childbirth.

Labor and delivery causes a woman's ability to withstand pain to greatly increase, meaning the tattoo on Saturday felt like a deep tissue massage. I kid you not. Had my BFF not been there, I probably would've fallen asleep. Yeah, a couple parts hurt a little because of where they were located but, seriously ... it was a breeze.

Let me tell you about my artist. His name is Geeter and he is from Spain. He's a nomad, traveling the world, tattooing. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! My tattoo was his first at this shop (which I didn't know until about ten minutes in ... small heart attack ensued) but, he's been tattooing for twelve years (canceled the small heart attack).

It still had some transfer ink on it when this photo was taken so it's even prettier now. He ended up going over the word again & filled it in, along with adding the beautiful custom design that a friend of mine created (thanks, J!). I absolutely love it!

All in all, a fabulous weekend filled with fabulous memories! Thanks, roommate!

Love the tattoo. Even after birthing 2 children I'm still too scared to do it.
